Short answer (checked 19 October 2026)
The Last Guardian now runs natively on PC, unofficially and at an early stage, through tlg_pc, a fan port from October 2026. Boot, menus, the intro and gameplay work on Linux. Windows builds are not yet tested in game. You need a dump of your own PS4 copy with update 01.03, which requires a jailbroken PS4. No game files are included.
The Last Guardian (2016, genDESIGN / Japan Studio) stayed a PS4 exclusive. In October 2026 it joined the wave of fan-made native PS4 ports that started with Bloodborne and continued with God of War III. The port is by HayatoG, who also works on native ports of inFAMOUS Second Son and Gravity Rush 2 (separate from the inFAMOUS project we list). DSOGaming and iXBT covered it.
How it works
- The PS4 uses the same x86-64 processor family as a PC, so the game’s own code runs directly on your CPU.
- A reimplemented PS4 runtime replaces Sony’s system libraries. It comes from the God of War III port (gow3_pc), which in turn comes from bloodborne_pc, plus functions written for The Last Guardian.
- The PS4 graphics chip’s commands are translated to Vulkan by the shadPS4 emulator’s video core.
That is why it sits between a port and an emulator; see our PS4 recompiled games page and the shadPS4 guide.
Current status
| Boot, menu, intro and gameplay | Working; 10+ minute sessions without failures (README) |
| Linux | Working |
| Windows | Automatic builds, not yet tested in game |
| macOS | Planned |
| Builds | Rolling builds since 14 October 2026 |
The project’s roadmap still includes testing 60 fps through the whole game, so a full playthrough is not confirmed. iXBT reported 60 to 75 fps.
What you need
- A dump of your own PS4 copy: CUSA03627 (US) or CUSA03745 (EU), with update 01.03 merged, about 25 GB. Making the dump requires a jailbroken PS4.
- For sound, a module from your own console’s firmware.
- A Vulkan 1.3 graphics card (6 GB of VRAM recommended) and about 25 GB of free space. On Linux, glibc 2.39 or newer.
We don’t explain how to dump or obtain game files.
Was it made with AI?
The repository’s commit history shows most recent changes co-authored with Anthropic’s Claude, and iXBT reports that the developer used Claude Opus as a programming assistant.
Is it legal and safe?
- tlg_pc is an unofficial fan project, not affiliated with Sony, genDESIGN or Japan Studio. The README says no game code, files or art are distributed.
- Use only a dump of a copy you own.
- Get builds only from the official GitHub repository. Copycat repositories for these PS4 ports exist, so beware of look-alikes.
FAQ
Can you play The Last Guardian on PC?
Unofficially, and at an early stage. tlg_pc, a fan project from October 2026, runs the PS4 game natively on Linux; Windows builds exist but have not been tested in game. You need a dump of your own PS4 copy.
Is the Last Guardian PC port an emulator?
Not exactly. The game's own x86-64 code runs directly on your CPU, and a reimplemented PS4 runtime replaces Sony's system libraries. Graphics go through the shadPS4 emulator's video core, translated to Vulkan.
What do I need for tlg_pc?
A dump of your own PS4 copy (CUSA03627 US or CUSA03745 EU) with update 01.03, a Vulkan 1.3 graphics card (6 GB of VRAM recommended) and about 25 GB of free space. Making the dump requires a jailbroken PS4, and sound needs a module from your own console's firmware.
How well does The Last Guardian run on PC?
The README says boot, menus, the intro and gameplay work, with sessions of 10+ minutes without failures. A full playthrough is not confirmed yet; iXBT reported 60 to 75 fps.
Is there an official PC version of The Last Guardian?
No. The Last Guardian was released only on PS4 (2016), and Sony has not announced a PC version. tlg_pc is unofficial.
