GTA 3 Online (quenq III Web)

GTA III on quenq.com, a browser build of the re3 engine compiled to WebAssembly that streams the game data itself, so no files of your own are needed.

GTA 3 Online is the Grand Theft Auto III page on quenq.com. It plays the 2001 game in a browser tab with no files to import and no install: the site streams the game data itself. It is unofficial, the data is Rockstar’s copyrighted content served without any stated licence, and the page is ad-funded. When we checked on 18 October 2026 the page and its player loaded normally. Because it is a commercial game, we only link to it and do not embed it.

Who runs it

quenq is the same hobby “museum of internet culture” site that runs quenq Vice City. GTA III sits in its Apps section next to Vice City. No owner’s name is given on the site.

The game runs from a separate address, iii.quenq.com, inside a frame on the main page. Opened on its own it sends you back to quenq.com, and its security headers only allow it to be framed by quenq’s own domains. The player calls itself III Web, version 1.2.5 when we checked. The earliest Internet Archive capture of iii.quenq.com is from 5 September 2026; the quenq.com page itself was first captured on 3 October 2026.

What engine it uses

The player loads a WebAssembly module named re3.wasm. re3 is the reverse-engineered rebuild of the GTA III engine by the GTAmodding team, the same project that produced reVC for Vice City. Take-Two had the re3 repository blocked on GitHub with a DMCA notice in 2021, so there is no official source page to link to.

The game data comes as one English package of about 116 MB, fetched from quenq and cached by the browser, so a second visit starts faster.

Features in the player

  • Save manager: upload .b save files from the PC or PS2 version and download backups.
  • Mod manager: upload replacement models (.dff, .txd) and player skins (.bmp) that swap files inside gta3.img. Scripts, CLEO, graphics mods and handling changes are not supported; mods are loaded into memory and can be removed with one click.
  • Touch controls on phones and tablets, with a button that opens the keyboard for cheat codes.
  • Gamepads: the page lists controller support, and the engine reads connected gamepads.
  • Cheats: quenq links its own GTA III cheat list.

There is no multiplayer, whatever the “Online” in the name suggests.

What about GTA San Andreas?

People searching for GTA 3 in the browser often look for San Andreas next. On 18 October 2026 we could not find a working San Andreas browser version:

  • OpenSA, a from-scratch browser engine that read San Andreas files from your own copy, was the serious attempt. Its author closed it on 25 August 2026; the repository is marked closed and the demo is offline. Copies of the code on GitHub are forks, not a playable site.
  • Several game portals have “GTA San Andreas browser” pages. The ones we opened showed no working game, so we do not link them.

If one appears, it will show up on our new ports page.

Safety and ads

  • Google AdSense ads sit around the game on wide screens, and a Google consent or ad-blocker message may appear.
  • The page has a Disqus comment section and Google Analytics.
  • We saw no download button or installer; nothing needs to be installed. Only play on quenq’s own page and ignore look-alike domains.
  • Saves, mods and the cached data stay in your browser. Clearing site data removes them.

Not working?

  • Black screen or heavy lag: turn on hardware acceleration in your browser settings.
  • Slow first start: the first visit downloads about 116 MB; later visits use the cache.
  • A mod broke the game: open the Mod Manager, choose Uninstall All and reload the page.
  • If quenq is down: GTA III has no other browser build we can recommend. For Vice City, the GTA: Vice City WASM Port runs with files from your own copy.

This page is not affiliated with quenq, Rockstar Games or Take-Two Interactive. We do not link any source for game files.

FAQ

Can you play GTA 3 in a browser?

Yes. quenq.com runs GTA III in a browser tab on its "GTA 3 Online" page. It uses a WebAssembly build of re3, the reverse-engineered GTA III engine, and streams the game data from quenq's own servers, so there is nothing to import.

Do I need my own GTA 3 files to play it in the browser?

Not on quenq. The site serves the game data itself, about 116 MB, and keeps it in your browser cache. That also means quenq is distributing Rockstar's game content without any stated permission.

Is GTA 3 Online on quenq actually multiplayer?

No. Despite the name, it is the single-player game. We found no multiplayer mode on the page or in the player.

Does GTA 3 in the browser work on phones?

The player has on-screen touch controls, including a cheat button that opens the phone keyboard. The page also lists controller support. Expect a phone to run hot; a desktop with hardware acceleration on is the smoother option.

Can I play GTA San Andreas in a browser?

Not that we could verify on 2026-10-18. The best-known attempt, OpenSA, was a fan-made browser engine that read your own San Andreas files. Its author closed it on 25 August 2026 and took the demo offline. Pages that claim to embed San Andreas did not show a working game when we checked.

Is GTA 3 Online official?

No. quenq is a hobby site with no link to Rockstar Games or Take-Two Interactive, and the page is paid for by Google ads.

Unofficial. This page is written by an independent directory. It is not made by, endorsed by or affiliated with Rockstar Games or Quenq (GTA 3 Online (quenq III Web)'s author). We do not host any files, and we never link to game files, ROMs or ISOs.
