Contemporary Conflict: Global Flashpoint is a free online shooter that runs in a browser tab. It started out as OVZ (Open Victor Zulu), an AI-built browser port of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (2009) multiplayer, and still uses that game’s way of working: classes, killstreaks, team deathmatch, a minimap and killfeed. It downloads its data from the site, so it does not need your own game files. On 2026-10-17 the site loaded normally. It needs a browser with WebGPU.

What changed

When it was covered in mid-September 2026, the project was called OVZ: Global Flashpoint and was presented as Modern Warfare 2 in the browser. Since then:

  • The page title is now Contemporary Conflict: Global Flashpoint. The in-game code still shows the OVZ name in places.
  • The game currently offers two maps, Derrick (a desert map) and Miami. Neither is a Modern Warfare 2 map name. The code refers to newly made (“authored”) maps and remodelled weapons, so the project seems to be replacing original game content with its own. It still names weapons from MW2, such as the Intervention and M9.
  • The developer has not explained the change anywhere we could find.

It still labels itself an alpha build (“alpha5c” when we checked), so expect bugs.

How to play

  1. Open the game site in a current desktop browser with WebGPU, such as Chrome or Edge.
  2. Wait for “Checking game files” and the download to finish. The first start takes longest.
  3. Choose Find Game to join a public match, or start a private match and invite friends to your party.
  4. Click the game to capture the mouse.

Modes and players

The public playlists on 2026-10-17 were:

Playlist What it is
24/7 TDM + Bots 6v6 team deathmatch on Derrick and Miami, join in progress, bots fill empty slots
1v1 Derrick One against one with a fixed Intervention and M9 class, no bots

Private matches with a party are also supported.

Requirements

  • A browser with WebGPU (recent Chrome or Edge on desktop). Other browsers may show “could not start the game’s graphics”.
  • Keyboard and mouse.
  • Free browser storage for the downloaded game data.

The site does not publish a key list.

Who made it

GlitchMod reported in September 2026 that a developer known online as Angelo made it, and that it was built with AI. The site itself credits nobody.

  • It is an unofficial fan project, not made or approved by Activision or Infinity Ward. Activision took down other AI-built Call of Duty browser ports in October 2026, so this one could also disappear.
  • It runs in the browser; you install nothing. Do not download “launchers” from other sites claiming to be this game.

Not working?

  • Graphics error: switch to a browser with WebGPU and turn on hardware acceleration.
  • Stuck on downloading: keep the tab open; the game blocks play until its files are verified.
  • Choppy matches: early reports mention stutter. Close other tabs and try again later.

FAQ

Can you play Modern Warfare 2 in a browser?

Partly. The browser project that launched in September 2026 as a Modern Warfare 2 port is still online, but it is now called Contemporary Conflict - Global Flashpoint and offers two maps, Derrick and Miami, in team deathmatch and 1v1 playlists.

Why is the MW2 browser game called Contemporary Conflict now?

The site's title changed from OVZ - Global Flashpoint to Contemporary Conflict - Global Flashpoint. We could not find an explanation from the developer. Parts of the game code still carry the OVZ name.

Is the MW2 browser port free?

Yes. It is free to play in the browser and does not ask for your own copy of Modern Warfare 2. It downloads its game data from the site on first start.

Why does it say my browser could not start the game's graphics?

The game needs WebGPU. Use a current version of Chrome or Edge on a desktop computer with hardware acceleration on.

Does the MW2 browser game work on mobile?

The game code includes touch controls, and a news report said it supports phones, but the site itself does not say so. We have not tested it on a phone.

Unofficial. This page is written by an independent directory. It is not made by, endorsed by or affiliated with Activision or Angelo (per GlitchMod; not credited on the site) (Contemporary Conflict: Global Flashpoint (OVZ)'s author). We do not host any files, and we never link to game files, ROMs or ISOs.
