Moon Zombies was an unofficial browser remake of Moon, the final Zombies map of Call of Duty: Black Ops (2010). It was made by Luckey Faraday, who builds games with AI coding agents, and ran in a browser tab with Three.js. It needed no game files from the player. It is no longer available: on 2026-10-10 Faraday wrote that Activision had sent DMCA notices and that every one of his Call of Duty browser games was offline.
What it was
Faraday announced the remake on X on 2026-09-14 as Moon “reconstructed in the browser with AI”, saying it was one of the harder Zombies maps he had tried to port. The post listed the map’s signature mechanics: low gravity, the P.E.S. oxygen system, the No Man’s Land section and the teleporter.
On 2026-10-09 he bundled Moon with his other Call of Duty ports (Kino der Toten, Nuketown, the Black Ops 2 map Hijacked, and Cheese Cube) under one link. A day later the DMCA notices arrived, his posts about the games were removed and the sites went offline.
Current status
- Taken down since 2026-10-10. We checked again on 2026-10-17.
- The old address,
moon-zombies.pages.dev, now redirects to an unrelated captcha page on another domain. It is not run by the author, so we do not link it. - Copies of the game may turn up on other sites. They are not from the creator, and we do not list them.
Why it was taken down
Faraday’s project pages said the maps, models and animations came from the original PC game. That made the remake easy to target: Moon’s art, sound and level design belong to Activision. The DMCA notice also locked his X account until he reviewed X’s copyright policy, according to the screenshot he shared.
What you can play instead
- Black Ops 1 Zombies (vel.gg): another unofficial browser port that lists Moon among its ten maps and was loading on 2026-10-17. It needs no game files either.
- The official way to play Moon is the original Call of Duty: Black Ops (with the Rezurrection map pack) or the Black Ops III Zombies Chronicles remaster.
Is it legal?
The remake was an unofficial fan project with no link to Activision or Treyarch. Because it used assets from the original game without permission, Activision had it removed. Re-uploads face the same problem.
FAQ
Can you still play Moon Zombies in a browser?
Not the Luckey Faraday remake. It went offline after Activision's DMCA notice on 2026-10-10. The vel.gg BO1 Zombies site still lists Moon among its ten maps and was loading when we checked on 2026-10-17.
Why was the Moon browser port taken down?
Activision sent DMCA notices against Luckey Faraday's Call of Duty browser ports. Press coverage noted that his project pages said the maps, models and animations were exported from the original PC games.
Is moon-zombies.pages.dev safe?
That address no longer serves the game. On 2026-10-17 it redirected to an unrelated captcha page on another domain. We recommend not using it.
Did the Moon remake need the original game?
No. While it was online it ran in the browser without asking for your own Black Ops files. That reuse of original assets is also why it was taken down.
Is there an official browser version of Black Ops Zombies?
No. Activision has not released Black Ops Zombies for browsers. Every browser version is an unofficial fan project.
Unofficial. This page is written by an independent directory. It is not made by, endorsed by or affiliated with Activision or Luckey Faraday (Moon Zombies (browser remake)'s author). We do not host any files, and we never link to game files, ROMs or ISOs.
