Cheese Cube in the browser was an unofficial remake of Cheese Cube, a well-known community custom Zombies map for Call of Duty: Black Ops III, in which you survive rounds on a giant floating block of cheese. The browser version was made by Luckey Faraday with AI coding tools and ran without a copy of Black Ops III. It is offline: it was part of Faraday’s Call of Duty browser collection, and on 2026-10-10 he wrote that Activision had sent DMCA notices and every one of his games was offline.
What it was
The original Cheese Cube is not an Activision map. Modders built it with the Black Ops III mod tools and shared it on the Steam Workshop; Cheese Cube Unlimited V1.0 was posted there in October 2017, followed by several later versions. It still runs on Black Ops III’s engine, weapons and zombies, which belong to Activision.
Faraday’s browser version rebuilt the map to run in a browser tab. On 2026-10-09 he listed it together with Moon, Kino der Toten, Nuketown and the Black Ops 2 map Hijacked as one “browser collection”. It had also appeared on the list of browser ports that went viral on X on 2026-10-08. We could not confirm an earlier release date.
Reports about its co-op mode do not agree (directory sites mention co-op for up to three or four players), and we could not verify either, so we leave it out.
Current status
- Offline since 2026-10-10; still offline when we checked on 2026-10-17.
cheese-cube.pages.devnow redirects to an unrelated captcha page on another domain. It is not run by the author, so we do not link it.- We know of no replacement site from the creator. Re-uploads by other people are not from him, and we do not list them.
Why it went offline
Faraday’s post said Activision “DMCA’d” him for porting Call of Duty games to the browser and that all of his posts and games were removed. Press coverage named the Kino der Toten and Black Ops 2 ports. Cheese Cube went offline at the same time as the rest of the collection.
What you can play instead
- Original map: Cheese Cube is still available on the Steam Workshop for Black Ops III on PC.
- In a browser: Black Ops 1 Zombies (vel.gg) runs ten classic Black Ops maps in a desktop browser. It does not include Cheese Cube.
Is it legal?
The browser version was an unofficial fan project, not made or approved by Activision or by the map’s original creators.
