Kino der Toten in the browser was an unofficial remake of the Zombies map Kino der Toten from Call of Duty: Black Ops (2010). It was made by Luckey Faraday with AI coding agents and the Three.js 3D library, and it ran free in a browser tab without asking for any game files. It is no longer available: Activision sent DMCA notices, and on 2026-10-10 Faraday wrote that all of his Call of Duty browser games were offline.
What it was
Faraday announced the port on X on 2026-09-11. He wrote that the AI model “used the real game assets” and rebuilt Kino in the browser with Three.js, the same approach he had used for a Black Ops 2 map. His post named the Mystery Box animations, weapon reloads, guns and sounds among the parts it recreated.
In the original game, Kino is a round-based survival map set in an abandoned German theater, with a stage teleporter and Pack-a-Punch. The browser remake was on the list of browser ports that went viral on X on 2026-10-08.
On 2026-10-09 Faraday put Kino together with Moon, Nuketown, the Black Ops 2 map Hijacked and Cheese Cube under one link. The DMCA notices followed the next day.
Current status
- Taken down since 2026-10-10; still offline when we checked on 2026-10-17.
- The old address,
kino-der-toten.pages.dev, now redirects to an unrelated captcha page on another domain. We do not link it. - Copies of the code and assets have appeared elsewhere. They are not from the creator, they contain Activision’s assets, and we do not list them.
Why it was taken down
XDA Developers reported that the project pages for Kino der Toten and the Black Ops 2 port both said their maps, models and animations were exported from the original PC games. Code written by AI can be new, but the art, sound and level design still belong to Activision. The DMCA notice also locked Faraday’s X account, according to the screenshot he shared.
What you can play instead
- Black Ops 1 Zombies (vel.gg): a different unofficial browser port that lists Kino der Toten among its ten maps. It was loading on 2026-10-17 and needs no game files.
- The official way to play Kino is Call of Duty: Black Ops on PC or console, or the Black Ops III Zombies Chronicles remaster.
Is it legal?
It was an unofficial fan project, not connected to Activision or Treyarch. Because it reused original game assets without permission, Activision had it removed, and re-uploads carry the same problem.
