GTA V on iPhone (5★ Port and Muguet)

Two fan projects that run the leaked GTA V WebAssembly build as a native iPhone app: 5★ Port by kevinerikjs and Muguet by c22dev. Both play, but need game files nobody can own legally.

WorkingNeeds your own copyWorks on phonesv1.4.6Updated

You need your own copy of Grand Theft Auto V. This port only runs with files from a copy you own; there is no download or play button here. No copy? These play in your browser right away, no files needed: BO1 Zombies (vel.gg), GTA 3 Online (quenq III Web), The Simpsons: Hit & Run WASM.

What you need

The files of the GTA V WebAssembly build (build 8b0b5899ed, about 21 GB), which Rockstar never sold and which was taken down in October 2026, so there is no legitimate copy to own. Plus a 6 GB iPhone and SideStore or AltStore with a free Apple ID; Muguet also needs an Apple silicon Mac to build.

There is no play link or download on this page.

We do not host any files. Only download from the project's official source.

Short answer (checked 21 October 2026)

Yes, GTA V runs natively on iPhone, but only unofficially and with a big catch. Two fan projects turn the GTA V WebAssembly build into a real iOS app: 5★ Port by Kevin Erik (kevinerikjs), latest v1.4.4 from 20 October 2026, and Muguet by c22dev, which also has online multiplayer. Both need an iPhone with 6 GB of RAM or more and sideloading with SideStore or AltStore. A paid Apple account is not required for 5★ Port. The catch: they need the files of the GTA V browser port that Take-Two had pulled in October 2026. That build was never sold, so there is no legitimate copy to own.

Update, 23 October 2026: the 5★ Port GitHub account (kevinerikjs) and both of its repositories disappeared between 22 and 23 October and now return 404; no reason has been given. The project’s website, fivestarport.site, is still up and lists version 1.4.6. It now hands out the iPhone and Mac apps only through its Telegram group, which we do not link. Muguet by c22dev is still on GitHub.

GTA V has never been released for iPhone. In October 2026 a WebAssembly build of the game ran in browsers on playgta5.com for a few hours before it was taken down. Within days, two developers had turned that same game.wasm engine into native Apple apps. Both repositories appeared on 10 October 2026. For Apple silicon Macs, see GTA V on Mac.

This site is not affiliated with either project or with Rockstar Games or Take-Two Interactive.

What it is

Neither project is an emulator, and neither runs the PC or console version of GTA V. They take the engine from the web build, which had been compiled to WebAssembly, and run it outside the browser:

  • 5★ Port (website: fivestarport.site) translates game.wasm to C with wasm2c and compiles it to ARM64 when the app is built, because iOS does not allow code to be compiled on the phone (no JIT). Graphics go through the project’s own Metal renderer, which runs the game’s Direct3D 11-style commands directly; the game’s shaders are translated to Metal with Google’s Tint and precompiled into the app.
  • Muguet (c22dev/muguet), written in Rust, runs the same game.wasm with wasmtime and draws through wgpu on Metal. On iPhone the game code is compiled ahead of time and baked into the app; on a Mac it is compiled on first launch and cached.

How you get the app Build it in your own GitHub account from your phone, or on a Mac Build it on an Apple silicon Mac with Xcode 26 and Rust

Extras Touch controls, gyro aim, tilt steering, PC mods incl. Script Hook V, cheats menu, 13+ languages Small UDP multiplayer with other Muguet players
Licence MIT (project code) GPL-3.0

5★ Port is the more polished one for phones. Its touch controls feed the game’s own controller code, so aim assist and analog driving work. It has six graphics presets, a frame-rate choice up to 120 on ProMotion iPhones, and Bluetooth controller support. PC mods work as downloaded, including OpenIV packages and .asi scripts, which run in a built-in x86-64 interpreter. A press report put it at 25 to 31 FPS on an iPhone 13 Pro Max on the lowest settings, which matches the README’s own figure.

Muguet is more of a developer project: there is no phone-side builder, and its README recommends AltStore over SideStore and Sideloadly. One player hosts a game from the launcher, or runs muguet-server on any machine, and others join over UDP port 47520. Story missions stay single-player. A Brazilian site reported 50 to 60 FPS on an iPhone 17, from the developer’s own video. A modder later used Muguet to put Minecraft characters into GTA V on an iPhone, which Dexerto covered.

Should Muguet have its own page? For now we cover both here, because they run the same files on the same devices and differ mainly in tooling.

What you need

  • The GTA V web build files: build 8b0b5899ed, the folder with data/ and b/8b0b5899ed/, about 21 GB. Both READMEs say “your own copy”. But this build was only ever online on playgta5.com, was never sold, and was pulled at Take-Two’s request, so no one owns a legitimate copy. We do not link or explain where to get it.
  • An iPhone with 6 GB of RAM (iPhone 12 Pro, 13 Pro, any iPhone 14 or newer) on iOS 16 or newer, with about 30 GB free. 4 GB iPhones will most likely run out of memory. iOS normally gives an app only about half the phone’s RAM; on a 6 GB iPhone that is about 3,000 MB.
  • A sideloading tool: SideStore or AltStore with your normal Apple ID. Setting either up needs a computer once.
  • For the 5★ Port builder: a free GitHub account. For Muguet: an Apple silicon Mac with macOS 14 or newer, Xcode 26 and Rust.

Free or paid Apple account?

Free Apple ID Paid developer account (99 USD/year)
Works with 5★ Port Yes Yes
Memory the app gets Normal limit (about 3,000 MB on a 6 GB iPhone) Increased Memory Limit and Extended Virtual Addressing (about 4,000 MB)
Re-signing Every 7 days Once a year

The 5★ Port README describes a free route to the higher memory limit with SideStore and the GetMoreRam tool, and says TrollStore gets the same result. Muguet’s README says the increased memory limit is required on iOS.

How installing works (overview)

With 5★ Port, you copy the game folder into Files › On My iPhone (not iCloud Drive). Until 22 October the website’s builder made a private copy of the GitHub repository in your account and built the app there; with the repository gone, the website’s install page (checked 23 October) now has you download a ready-made GTA5Port-iOS IPA from the project’s Telegram group, install it with SideStore or AltStore, and point the app at the game folder. We do not link the Telegram downloads.

  • The files. The apps contain no game code in their repositories, but they only work with the taken-down GTA V web build. That build reportedly came from leaked source code, and Rockstar never offered it. The project’s FAQ says it cannot help with getting files. The app does let you paste a download link to a “third-party download site”, though, and has a button to turn off ad blocking for sites that refuse to load.
  • The builder. The website asks you to approve a GitHub app with access to all repositories in your account. That is broad access to hand to a third party; consider using a separate GitHub account.
  • Prebuilt IPAs from Telegram or other sites are compiled from the game engine and could be modified. The project itself warns about copies from random sites.
  • Telemetry. Since v1.4.4 the app sends anonymous play statistics (device, version, FPS, crashes, failed missions). The project lists what it sends in docs/STATS.md.
  • Takedown risk. Take-Two had the browser version removed within hours, and a native Android GTA V port was reportedly stopped by a cease-and-desist in 2026. The 5★ Port README gave a contact address for rights holders and promised to take the repository down on request; the repositories and the whole GitHub account were gone by 23 October 2026, without a public reason.

Was it made with AI?

Partly, by the look of the commit history. Several 5★ Port commits and most Muguet commits are marked as co-authored by Claude. Neither README says more about it.

  • GTA V on Mac: the same 5★ Port app for Apple silicon Macs, plus Muguet’s Mac build.
  • GTA 5 in a browser: the playgta5.com port these apps are built from, and what happened to it.
  • Theft4 (KoreanSeats1/Theft4): an experimental static recompilation of the Xbox 360 version of GTA IV for iPhone and iPad, with a direct Metal renderer. It needs your own retail copy plus Title Update 8. It is listed in our recompiled games list; the PC-side project is Liberty Recompiled.
  • KartPad: Mario Kart Wii as a native iPhone, iPad and Mac app, a project that needs a disc you can actually own. More in iPhone and Mac ports.

FAQ

Can you play GTA 5 on iPhone?

Not officially; Rockstar has never released GTA V for iOS. Two unofficial fan projects, 5★ Port by kevinerikjs and Muguet by c22dev, run it as a native iPhone app, and both play Story mode. But they are built from the GTA V web build that was taken down in October 2026, and there is no legitimate way to own those files.

Which iPhone do I need?

For 5★ Port, an iPhone with 6 GB of memory (iPhone 12 Pro, 13 Pro, any iPhone 14 or newer) on iOS 16 or newer, with about 30 GB free. 4 GB iPhones will most likely run out of memory. Muguet asks for iOS 15 or newer and ideally 8 GB of RAM.

Do I need a paid Apple developer account?

Not for 5★ Port; a free Apple ID with SideStore or AltStore works, but the app has to be re-signed every 7 days and gets less memory. A paid account (99 USD a year) or TrollStore unlocks the larger memory limit. Muguet's README lists a developer account and says the increased-memory entitlement is required on iOS; a free account is possible but we couldn't confirm how well it runs.

Do I need my own copy of GTA 5?

Not the PC or console game. Both apps need the files of the GTA V WebAssembly build (about 21 GB) that ran on playgta5.com. That build was never sold, so a copy you own does not exist; the files people use are unauthorized copies of the taken-down build. We do not link or explain where to get them.

Does the download include the game?

The GitHub repositories contain no game code. The 5★ Port app is built in your own private GitHub repository from your files. Ready-made IPAs shared in the project's Telegram group contain the compiled game engine; we do not link them.

Is it safe?

The code is open and the GitHub releases contain no IPAs. The risks are elsewhere. The builder asks you to give a GitHub app access to all your repositories. Prebuilt IPAs from chat groups or other sites can be modified. Since v1.4.4 the app sends anonymous play statistics. And Take-Two has already had GTA V ports removed.
