GTA V on Mac (5★ Port for Apple silicon)

The 5★ Port GTA V app for Apple silicon Macs, with keyboard and mouse, plus c22dev's Muguet. Both run the taken-down GTA V web build natively, without Wine or an emulator.

WorkingNeeds your own copyv1.4.6Updated

You need your own copy of Grand Theft Auto V. This port only runs with files from a copy you own; there is no download or play button here. No copy? These play in your browser right away, no files needed: BO1 Zombies (vel.gg), GTA 3 Online (quenq III Web), The Simpsons: Hit & Run WASM.

What you need

The files of the GTA V WebAssembly build (build 8b0b5899ed, about 21 GB), which Rockstar never sold and which was taken down in October 2026, so there is no legitimate copy to own. Plus an Apple silicon Mac on macOS 13 or newer; 16 GB of RAM for the Quality preset. No developer account needed.

There is no play link or download on this page.

We do not host any files. Only download from the project's official source.

Short answer (checked 21 October 2026)

GTA V runs natively on Apple silicon Macs through fan ports, not through an official release. The 5★ Port Mac app (website: fivestarport.site), v1.4.4 from 20 October 2026, runs on any M1 or newer Mac with macOS 13 or later, with keyboard and mouse. No developer account is needed. Muguet by c22dev also builds for Mac. Both run the engine of the GTA V browser port, and need its files. That build was never sold and was taken down, so there is no legitimate copy to own. Intel Macs are not supported.

Update, 23 October 2026: the 5★ Port GitHub account (kevinerikjs) and both of its repositories disappeared between 22 and 23 October and now return 404; no reason has been given. The project’s website, fivestarport.site, is still up and lists version 1.4.6. It now hands out the iPhone and Mac apps only through its Telegram group, which we do not link. Muguet by c22dev is still on GitHub.

Rockstar has never released GTA V for macOS. Mac players with the PC version usually run it through a compatibility layer such as CrossOver or Apple’s Game Porting Toolkit. The projects on this page take another route: they compile the engine of the October 2026 GTA V WebAssembly build into a native Mac app. They are the Mac side of the GTA V iPhone ports, which have more detail on how they work.

This site is not affiliated with either project or with Rockstar Games or Take-Two Interactive.

What it is

  • 5★ Port for Mac is the same app as the iPhone version, from the same code, released with the same version numbers. The macOS repository was created on 11 October 2026, and the first Mac build, v1.4.4, came on 20 October. The engine (game.wasm from the web build) is translated to C and compiled for the Mac’s chip; graphics run on the project’s own Metal renderer. It plays with the game’s own PC keyboard and mouse controls and shows PC key prompts.
  • Muguet (c22dev/muguet) runs the same game.wasm with wasmtime and draws with wgpu on Metal. On a Mac the game code is compiled to arm64 on first launch and then cached. It adds a small UDP multiplayer for other Muguet players.

What you need

5★ Port Muguet
Mac Apple silicon (M1 or newer), macOS 13 Ventura or later Apple silicon, macOS 14 or later
Memory 16 GB plays the Quality preset smoothly; 8 GB starts on a lighter preset Not stated for Mac
Get the app A prebuilt zip from the project’s Telegram (not linked); building it yourself is no longer possible since the source repository was deleted on 22-23 October 2026 Build it with Xcode 26 and Rust
Developer account No No (only for the iOS build)
Game files GTA V web build 8b0b5899ed, about 21 GB The same web build, as a .zip

About the game files: both READMEs say “your own copy”, but this build only ever ran on playgta5.com, was never offered for sale and was pulled at Take-Two’s request. No one owns a legitimate copy. We do not link or explain where to get it.

First launch

The 5★ Port app is not notarized by Apple. On first launch macOS says it cannot check the app; the README explains allowing it once under System Settings › Privacy & Security › Open Anyway. It asks again after each new version. The app runs in the macOS sandbox. Saves, mods and logs live in its container folder, and the game folder stays where you put it. The settings, mods and cheats menus match the iPhone app.

The same points apply as for the iPhone version: the only files it runs are an unauthorized copy of a taken-down build. Prebuilt zips from chat groups could be modified, and the app sends anonymous play statistics since v1.4.4. Running an app that macOS cannot verify is your decision; building it yourself from the repository is the more transparent route. We found no takedown of either project as of 21 October 2026.

Playing GTA V on Mac legitimately

With a PC copy of GTA V from an official store, Mac owners use compatibility layers such as CrossOver or Apple’s Game Porting Toolkit for the story mode. That is not a native port and is outside what this page tracks. We have not tested it.

FAQ

Can you play GTA 5 on a Mac?

There is no official Mac version. Two unofficial fan projects run it natively on Apple silicon Macs, the 5★ Port Mac app by kevinerikjs and Muguet by c22dev, but both need the files of the GTA V web build that was taken down in October 2026, which nobody can own legally. With a PC copy of the game, the usual route is a compatibility layer such as CrossOver.

Does it work on Intel Macs?

No. The 5★ Port Mac app needs an M1 or newer Mac on macOS 13 Ventura or later, and Muguet needs Apple silicon with macOS 14 or later.

Do I need an Apple developer account on Mac?

No. The 5★ Port app is not notarized, so macOS asks you to allow it once in Privacy & Security. Building it or Muguet yourself needs Xcode, which is free.

Is it the PC version running through Wine?

No. It is the engine of the GTA V WebAssembly build, compiled to native arm64 code, with graphics on Metal. There is no Windows layer or emulator in between, which is why it uses the web build's files and not your Steam or Epic copy.

Do I need my own copy of GTA 5?

A Steam, Epic or Rockstar copy does not help. The app needs the web build (build 8b0b5899ed, about 21 GB) that ran on playgta5.com. That build was never sold, so the files in circulation are unauthorized copies. We do not link them.

Unofficial. This page is written by an independent directory. It is not made by, endorsed by or affiliated with Rockstar Games or Kevin Erik (kevinerikjs); Muguet by c22dev (GTA V on Mac (5★ Port for Apple silicon)'s author). We do not host any files, and we never link to game files, ROMs or ISOs.
