Yes, the original Silent Hill now has an unofficial native PC port. Konami never released the 1999 PlayStation game on PC, but SlickAmogus’s Silent Hill PC Port compiles the game from the fan decompilation into a real Windows program. The README says it is fully playable from start to finish, though still in beta. It ships no game files: you need a disc image of your own copy, so this page has no download or play link. Unofficial, not affiliated with Konami.

This is about the first game only. Silent Hill f and the remakes are official releases and are not covered here.

What it is

The port lives on the pc-port branch of SlickAmogus/silent-hill-decomp. It builds on the Silent Hill decompilation, a long-running human effort that rewrites the US 1.1 release as C code that compiles back to the original binary. That project says it will never produce a port itself; forks like this one do the porting.

Hardware calls go through PsyCross, a PlayStation SDK compatibility layer first written for REDRIVER2. According to its README, the result is not an emulator and not a static recompilation: no part of the original binary is machine-translated. Optional extras include:

  • any resolution, widescreen and uncapped frame rates, with optional PGXP perspective correction;
  • third-person, over-the-shoulder and first-person cameras alongside the classic fixed ones;
  • quick save and load, an in-game options overlay, a console and cheats;
  • a mod manager, texture packs, model replacement, RetroAchievements and Discord presence.

At default settings it aims to play like the original.

Current status

Checked 2026-10-17: under active development, last pushed 2026-10-16. The first alpha came out on 2026-03-10, Beta 1 on 2026-07-02, and a cross-platform beta (PC, Mac, Linux, Android, iOS, Xbox) on 2026-09-04, updated since. GenerationAmiga reported that Beta 1 made the game completable, with remaining glitches and occasional crashes. The README lists as known issues: Linux and macOS builds still have problems, hardware-specific visual glitches, and minor cosmetic bugs.

What you need

  • A disc image of your own PlayStation copy of Silent Hill. We do not explain how to get one.
  • A Windows PC. Linux and macOS are work in progress; the README suggests Wine on Linux for now.
  • The build is unsigned, so SmartScreen may warn on first launch.

Who made it

The port is by SlickAmogus (KushAstronaut on Discord). The upstream decompilation belongs to its own contributors, who state that their work is human-made; the port’s README says its own development is heavily AI-assisted, with every change reviewed by hand. The port code is GPL-3.0; it claims no rights over the decompiled game code.

  • It is an unofficial fan project and contains no Konami game data.
  • Only use a disc image of a copy you own.
  • The repository and its nightly builds repository are the official sources. Other sites using the name are not.

Not working?

Try another renderer: the README names a renderer= setting (d3d11, vulkan or warp). Bugs are tracked on the project’s GitHub issues page.

More native ports: see the recompiled games list, P.T. on PC, and GTA IV recompiled from Xbox 360.

FAQ

Is there a Silent Hill 1 PC port?

Yes, an unofficial one. SlickAmogus's Silent Hill PC Port is a native Windows version of the 1999 PlayStation game, built from the community decompilation. Konami did not make it and it is not sold on Steam or the Epic Games Store.

Is the Silent Hill PC port an emulator?

No. Its README says it is neither an emulator nor a static recompilation. The game is compiled from decompiled C source into a real executable, with the PsyCross compatibility layer standing in for the PlayStation hardware.

Can you finish Silent Hill on the PC port?

According to the README, yes. Every map, boss, cutscene and ending works and the game can be completed. It is still labelled beta, with minor visual bugs and some issues on certain hardware.

Do I need my own copy of Silent Hill?

Yes. No game data is included. The port reads a disc image made from your own PlayStation copy; USA, PAL and Japanese discs are detected. We do not explain how to get game files.

Was the Silent Hill PC port made with AI?

Partly. The README says development of the port is heavily AI-assisted, with each change reviewed and directed by hand. The upstream decompilation it builds on states that it is human-led and contains no knowingly AI-generated code.

Unofficial. This page is written by an independent directory. It is not made by, endorsed by or affiliated with Konami or SlickAmogus, built on the shdecompilations Silent Hill decompilation (Silent Hill 1 PC Port (silent-hill-decomp, pc-port branch)'s author). We do not host any files, and we never link to game files, ROMs or ISOs.
