Short answer (checked 21 October 2026)
Yes, the GameCube Luigi’s Mansion now runs natively on PC, unofficially, through Luigi’s Mansion Recompiled by rob646464, with no emulator. It runs on Windows 10/11 and Linux. The latest release is 1.1 (21 October 2026). It adds any resolution, widescreen, up to 320 fps and the European Hidden Mansion. You need your own USA and/or European disc image; the game is built on your PC the first time you start it.
Luigi’s Mansion was a GameCube launch game in 2001 and was remade for the 3DS in 2018. rob646464 created the repository on 14 October 2026 and published version 1.0, then still called Luigi’s Mansion PC, on 16 October. A settings hotfix (1.0.1) followed the same day and version 1.1 on 21 October. The repository had about 140 GitHub stars on 21 October. We couldn’t find press coverage of it yet.

What it is
- A recompilation built on your PC: the downloads contain the recompiler and a bundled compiler but no game code. On first start you pick your disc images, and the program turns the game’s code into a native module for your machine.
- Based on the community decompilation: the NOTICE lists the lm-decomp project (CC0) as its source of symbols and structure, and parts adapted from Dusklight, a Twilight Princess PC port.
- Rendered through Aurora, an open-source GameCube graphics and system layer. The README claims the rendering is more accurate than Dolphin’s, including effects such as EFB copies, real-time shadows and indirect effects. We didn’t test that claim.
- Partly AI-assisted: the NOTICE says code in the repository was written with AI assistance, and the release notes are signed as generated with Claude Code.
It is one of a growing number of GameCube recompilations in our recompiled games list.
Current status
| State | Released, version 1.x; the README lists one known issue |
| Latest release | 1.1, 21 October 2026 |
| First release | 1.0, 16 October 2026 |
| Platforms | Windows 10/11 64-bit (Direct3D 12), Linux x86-64 (glibc 2.34+, Vulkan) |
| Licence | We couldn’t find a licence file for the project’s own code; third-party parts are listed in NOTICE.md |
Features listed in the README and the release notes:
- any resolution, widescreen and ultrawide, with the HUD anchored to the screen edges;
- high frame rates up to 320 fps through interpolation, while the game logic stays at 30 updates a second, or the original 30 fps;
- a shader precache, so there are no compile stutters during play;
- optional enhanced lighting with per-pixel lights, soft shadows, a flashlight beam, bloom and glowing ghosts, plus a CRT filter with S-Video, composite and RF looks;
- the European Hidden Mansion with its boss changes; with both discs, E. Gadd’s lab offers both versions;
- restored unused content (all off by default), difficulty settings and an F1 options menu;
- automatic update checks from 1.1 onwards, which can be turned off.
Known problems: the README says the restored 2-player mode is unfinished. The 1.0 notes also mention erratic water spray at high frame rates and a buggy “Play as Mario” option. On 21 October 2026 there were 7 open issues, including a frame-rate drop between the foyer and the parlor in 1.1, shaders not being saved between runs and a freeze on Linux with the European disc. We didn’t play the game through ourselves.
What you need
- Your own disc image or extracted game folder of Luigi’s Mansion: the USA release (GLME01), the European release (GLMP01), or both. ISO, RVZ and other Dolphin formats work. We don’t explain how to obtain or copy game data.
- Windows 10 or 11, 64-bit, with a Direct3D 12 graphics card, or Linux x86-64 with glibc 2.34 or newer and Vulkan.
- There is no macOS build.
How to install
From the official README and release notes, at a high level: download the Windows ZIP or Linux archive from the project’s GitHub Releases page, unpack it and start the game. On first start it asks for your disc image or images, then builds the game with the bundled compiler, which takes about 20 to 60 seconds on a decent PC. Settings are in the F1 menu. Each package includes a README.txt with its requirements.
Other Luigi’s Mansion options
- Luigi’s Mansion (3DS, 2018) is Nintendo’s own remake, and the GameCube original joined the Nintendo Switch 2 GameCube library for Expansion Pack subscribers on 30 October 2025, per Nintendo World Report. Neither is a PC version.
- Dolphin can emulate the GameCube game, but that is emulation, not a native port.
Is it legal and safe?
- Luigi’s Mansion Recompiled is an unofficial fan project, not affiliated with or endorsed by Nintendo. Its NOTICE says it contains no Nintendo assets or code from the retail game, and users must provide their own disc dump.
- Use only an image of a disc you own.
- Version 1.1 checks GitHub for updates at startup and verifies each download’s SHA-256 before installing it. You can turn the check off in F1 > Game > Updates.
- Get it only from the official GitHub repository. Sites offering the port bundled with the game are not the project.

FAQ
Is there a Luigi's Mansion PC port?
Not an official one. Since 16 October 2026 there is an unofficial native port of the GameCube game for Windows and Linux, Luigi's Mansion Recompiled by rob646464. The latest release is 1.1 from 21 October 2026. You need your own disc image of the game.
Where is Luigi's Mansion Recompiled on GitHub?
The official repository is rob646464/luigis-mansion-recompiled, and its Windows and Linux builds are on that repository's Releases page.
Is Luigi's Mansion Recompiled an emulator like Dolphin?
No. On first start it reads your own disc image and builds the game into a native program with a bundled compiler, which the README says takes about 20 to 60 seconds. Graphics go through the Aurora GameCube layer.
Which version of Luigi's Mansion do I need?
Your own disc image or extracted game folder of the USA release (GLME01), the European release (GLMP01), or both. The README recommends both, because the European disc adds its version of the Hidden Mansion.
Does Luigi's Mansion Recompiled work on Mac or Steam Deck?
The releases offer Windows 10/11 64-bit and Linux x86-64 builds. There is no macOS build. We couldn't confirm Steam Deck support from the project; it would use the Linux build.
Was Luigi's Mansion Recompiled made with AI?
Partly. The repository's NOTICE says some of its code was written with AI assistance, the release notes are signed as generated with Claude Code, and the repository includes working notes for Claude.
