Short answer (checked 24 October 2026)

Atlantis: The Lost Tales now runs natively on Windows, Mac, Linux and in a browser through Atlantis Native by ripleyXLR8, an unofficial Rust port based on ScummVM’s CryOmni3D engine. It plays the whole game and adds an optional HD mode and bug fixes. You need your own copy. Latest release: v0.4.0 (22 October 2026).

Atlantis: The Lost Tales is Cryo Interactive’s 1997 adventure game. You play Seth, a new guard of the queen, who wakes in Atlantis as Queen Rhea disappears. The rights now belong to Microids. Atlantis Native was created on 17 October 2026.

What it is

  • A native port in Rust: the engine is a translation of ScummVM’s CryOmni3D engine for Atlantis, which was rebuilt by reverse engineering the original program. The README says each behaviour is traced to an address in the original code.
  • The original game, pixel for pixel and sample for sample, with optional fixes for the original’s bugs and an optional HD mode, including the talking heads drawn at the window’s resolution and widescreen.
  • Windows, macOS on Apple Silicon, Linux and the web from one engine. The README is also available in Traditional and Simplified Chinese.
  • AI-assisted: the README says Claude wrote the code through Claude Code, directed and reviewed by the maintainer.

What you need

  • Your own copy of Atlantis: The Lost Tales. The port contains none of the game’s pictures, text or sounds.
  • The release for your system from GitHub, or a current desktop browser for the web version.

We don’t link or explain how to get game files.

Not working?

  • The game isn’t found: point the port at the folder or disc with your game files, as the README’s quick start describes.
  • The image looks wrong on a wide screen: try switching between the original 640×480 view and the HD mode.

Another reverse-engineered adventure: Faust: The Seven Games of the Soul.
