Verdict: isle.pizza lets you play the full LEGO Island (1997) in a browser tab with no game files of your own and nothing to install. It works on desktop and has touch controls for phones and tablets. The site was up when we checked on 2026-10-21. It is an unofficial fan project, so the play button opens the original site in a new tab.
What it is
LEGO Island was a 1997 PC adventure from Mindscape where you explore an island, build vehicles, deliver pizzas as Pepper Roni and chase the Brickster. It never got an official re-release.
In 2023 the YouTuber MattKC started isledecomp, a community effort to decompile the game. It reached a complete, byte-accurate rebuild of the original source code. A second project, isle-portable, replaced the Windows-only parts with cross-platform ones, so the game now runs on more than ten platforms, including the web. isle.pizza is the web frontend for that port; its repository started in June 2025 and the work is mainly by foxtacles.
The code is rebuilt, but the island, characters, music and voices are the original game data, which the site serves itself.
What it can do
- The whole game, all three acts, streamed with the original Interleaf streaming code, so content loads progressively like it did from the CD-ROM.
- Offline install of about 550 MB.
- Controls for keyboard and mouse (arrow keys or WASD), gamepad and touch, set on the Configure page.
- Extras in the settings, such as widescreen and HD music options.
- A save editor in the browser.
- Multiplayer rooms through a relay server, and shareable “memories” of moments in the game.
What you need
- A modern browser with WebAssembly multi-threading: Chrome or Edge 95+, Firefox 92+, or Safari 15.4+ (iOS 18+ recommended).
- Nothing else. The game data downloads as you play.
Is it safe and legal?
- It is an unofficial fan project. The site states that LEGO and LEGO Island are trademarks of The LEGO Group, which is not affiliated with it and has not endorsed it.
- The decompiled engine is under the LGPL v3 and the web frontend under MIT. The game data is not covered by those licences.
- You do not upload or install anything.
Not working?
- No sound: click the mute icon on the intro screen.
- The offline install fails: leave private mode and make sure the site may use storage.
- It will not start at all: update your browser; older versions lack the WebAssembly threading the game needs.
- Something breaks in-game: the project asks for bug reports on the isle-portable GitHub issues page, with your browser and device.
