You need your own copy of Diablo II: Resurrected. This port only runs with files from a copy you own; there is no download or play button here. No copy? These play in your browser right away, no files needed: Diablo Web, BO1 Zombies (vel.gg), GTA 3 Online (quenq III Web).

What you need

Files from your own Switch copy of Diablo II: Resurrected with the Reign of the Warlock expansion, updated to 1.0.34.0 (prod.keys only if you extract a game package). A Mac with Xcode, or a Windows PC plus a sideloading tool; an A14 or newer iPhone or iPad, 6 GB of RAM recommended.

Short answer (checked 21 October 2026)

Yes, Diablo II: Resurrected runs natively on iPhone, iPad and Mac through a fan port. D2R Mobile (jhaizhou-ops/d2r-mobile), released on 12 October 2026 (latest v1.0.18, 17 October), runs the Switch version’s own arm64 code directly on Apple chips, with graphics on Metal. It needs your own Switch copy with Reign of the Warlock, version 1.0.34.0, and an A14 / M1 device or newer; iOS 26 is the default, and an older-API build covers iOS 18 to 25. A free Apple ID is enough. It is offline only.

Diablo II: Resurrected, Blizzard’s 2021 remaster, is on PC and consoles but not on iPhone or Mac. D2R Mobile was published on 12 October 2026 by jhaizhou, a GitHub account created in January 2026. It gathered more than 4,000 stars in its first nine days and has a steady stream of community pull requests: Russian and Spanish translations, Mac fixes, and an Apple TV port. The project says 44 iPhones and iPads in a closed beta completed Normal, Nightmare and Hell.

This site is not affiliated with the D2R Mobile developers or with Blizzard Entertainment or Nintendo. It is a different game from Diablo Web, the browser port of the original 1996 Diablo.

What it is

Switch and iPhone use the same class of arm64 processor, so the game’s program can run without an emulated CPU:

  • A rewriter (dm/tools/patch_nso.py) changes only the few instructions that cannot run under Apple’s kernel: thread-pointer registers, system calls and timers. The rest of the program stays byte for byte as shipped.
  • A host written for Apple platforms provides the system services the game calls.
  • The graphics layer implements the Switch graphics API on Metal. Shaders are translated offline from the game’s own (using Ryujinx’s shader translator) and compiled ahead of time, so nothing compiles while you play.

All of this happens on your own machine from your own files. The repository’s DERIVED.md lists the game-related records it keeps: shader identifiers and interface descriptions, about 800 addresses inside the game’s program, and the instruction rewrite rules. It says it contains no game code, art, text or shaders.

It also adds a lot that the original lacks: complete touch controls, controller support, a power saver mode, a 100-level Greater Rift, a Boss Rush, an “Elysium” high-drop mode, larger stashes, auto-pickup and auto-potions, a Runeword helper, and English, Chinese, Spanish and Russian. Most extras can be turned off in Options › Custom.

Supported devices

Device Status
iPhone 15 Pro and later, iPhone 16 and later, M-series iPads Main devices. iOS 26 with the default build; iOS 18 to 25 with the older-API build
A16 and older (iPhone 14 family, iPhone 15 / 15 Plus, iPhone 13 series) Playable with an extra Legacy Device Pack made from your own files; 60 fps reported on an iPhone 14 Pro Max, 30 fps mode on an iPhone 13 Pro Max
4 GB devices (iPad mini 6, iPad Air 4) Starts, but memory is very tight; busy scenes may be closed by the system
A14 with 6 GB (iPhone 12 Pro / Pro Max) No reports yet
A13 and older (iPhone 11, 2020 iPad Pro) Not supported (no Metal 3)
Apple silicon Mac Native macOS app; macOS 26, or macOS 15 to 25 with the older-API build
Apple TV 4K (3rd gen) Community port, developer preview; reached character select only
Intel Mac Not supported

The project measured 60 fps and about 3.8 W whole-device power on an iPhone 17 Pro Max. The install package is about 100 MB; the game resources (about 5.6 GB) go on the device separately.

What you need

  • Your own game files: the Switch release of Diablo II: Resurrected with the Reign of the Warlock expansion, updated to 1.0.34.0. That corresponds to PC version 3.3.94012, but the PC release itself does not work. You need the update’s program files (about 26 MB) and its data (about 8.4 GB). If you start from a whole game package, you also need prod.keys from your own console. We do not explain how to dump or obtain files.
  • With a Mac: an Apple silicon Mac with Xcode. ./setup.sh patches the program and translates the shaders, then you build and install the app. The same setup also builds the native Mac app.
  • Without a Mac: a “shell” from the official releases page, which contains no game content. A packaging tool on Windows or Linux adds your files, and you install the result with a sideloading tool. On this route the first launch spends about 7 minutes compiling shaders. The project says the final signing step with sideloading tools is not verified yet.
  • Apple account: a free Apple ID works, with re-signing every 7 days. A paid developer account adds iCloud save sync. The project’s own test-group builds also had in-app downloads and update notices, which self-built apps lack.

Is it official, and will it stay up?

D2R Mobile is an unofficial, non-commercial fan project, not affiliated with Blizzard or Nintendo. Its release assets are shells without game content, and it asks users not to share game files. Blizzard (owned by Microsoft) has not commented as far as we found. We found no takedown notice as of 21 October 2026. The repository’s very fast rise from a new account is unusual, but the source code, tests and community contributions are public. Get it only from the official repository, and be wary of ready-made “D2R iOS” packages elsewhere, which would contain the game.

Was it made with AI?

The README doesn’t say. A few commits are marked as co-authored by Claude. At least one third-party catalogue lists the repository as a “skill” for AI coding agents; that is not how the project describes itself.

  • Mush8: Mario Kart 8 Deluxe on iPhone and Mac with the same approach of running Switch code natively.
  • Diablo Web: the original Diablo, playable in a browser.
  • KartPad: Mario Kart Wii as a native iPhone, iPad and Mac app. More in iPhone and Mac ports.

FAQ

Can you play Diablo 2 Resurrected on iPhone?

Not officially; Blizzard has not released it for iOS. D2R Mobile is an unofficial open-source port that runs the Switch version natively on iPhone and iPad, with touch controls rebuilt for phones. You build the app yourself from your own Switch game files.

Which iPhones and iPads work?

Devices with an A14 or M1 chip or newer, because the graphics layer needs Metal 3. iPhone 15 Pro and later and M-series iPads are the main devices. A16 and older chips, such as the iPhone 14 family and iPhone 15, need an extra texture pack made from your own files. 4 GB devices start but are very tight on memory. A13 and older are not supported.

Do I need a paid Apple developer account?

No. A free Apple ID works, but the app has to be re-signed every 7 days and iCloud save sync is not available. Without a Mac you can make the install package on Windows and install it with a sideloading tool such as AltStore or Sideloadly; the project says that last signing step is not verified yet.

Which game files do I need?

The Nintendo Switch release of Diablo II: Resurrected with the Reign of the Warlock expansion, updated to 1.0.34.0 (PC version 3.3.94012), dumped from your own console. The PC version does not work with it. We do not explain how to get game files.

Does it run on Mac?

Yes. The same project builds a native app for Apple silicon Macs, on macOS 26 or newer, or macOS 15 to 25 with the older-API build. It works with keyboard, mouse and gamepad and needs no developer account. Intel Macs are not supported.

Can I play online?

No. The port runs fully offline, with no multiplayer and no Battle.net account.
