Verdict: Arena of Champions is a free, unofficial World of Warcraft-style arena PvP game that runs in a desktop browser, with Warcraft III models for its heroes and maps. There is no install and no account needed: Play as Guest takes you straight into a town lobby where you queue for 1v1, 2v2 or 3v3. It went live around 29 October 2026. In our test on 30 October 2026 (UTC) about 1,500 players were online. Play it only at arenaofchampions.live.

What it is

Arena of Champions takes the arena mode of World of Warcraft, short team fights between players, and makes it a game of its own. You choose a hero from nine classes, each with one specialization: Arms Warrior, Fire Mage, Discipline Priest, Assassination Rogue, Marksmanship Hunter, Holy Paladin, Affliction Warlock, Restoration Druid and Restoration Shaman. Each class has an eight-slot action bar of classic-style abilities. A rating starts at 1500 for each bracket.

Between matches you wait in a shared town, chat with other players, add friends by right-clicking their frame and watch the queue counter. The town and the heroes are built from Warcraft III art, which gives it the look of a Warcraft III custom map rather than WoW itself.

The client is written in Rust with the Bevy engine and reaches the browser as WebAssembly, drawing through WebGL 2. The art and names belong to Blizzard, which is why we only link to the game and do not embed it.

It comes from the same wave of browser fan games as Azeroth Survivors, which turns WoW Classic into a Vampire Survivors-style run. For the original Warcraft III in a browser, see Warcraft III in the browser, and for every other game you can play right away, the browser games list.

How to play

  1. Open arenaofchampions.live in Chrome or Edge on a desktop or laptop.
  2. Wait for the first load. The page shows only “Loading…” until the client has downloaded; for us that took 10 to 30 seconds.
  3. Click Play as Guest (or sign in), pick a class in the Heroes panel and queue for 1v1, 2v2 or 3v3.

It needs a keyboard and mouse. We have not tested it on a phone.

Requirements

  • A desktop browser with WebGL 2 and hardware acceleration turned on. Current Chrome and Edge worked in our test. WebGPU is not needed.
  • A stable internet connection: every match is online against other players.
  • Optional: the Windows app linked on the sign-in screen, which the game recommends when browser ping is high.

Not working?

  • Stuck on “Loading…”: wait up to half a minute on the first visit. If nothing happens, reload, and check that “Use graphics acceleration when available” is on in chrome://settings/system or edge://settings/system.
  • “Failed to start: CompileError”: your browser could not compile the game’s WebAssembly. Update to current desktop Chrome or Edge; in-app browsers and older versions are the usual cause.
  • Very high ping or lag: it depends on your distance from the server. Try the Windows app from the official site.
  • A black screen on the first visit: the background art loads after the client. Give it a few more seconds.
  • Arena of Champions is an unofficial fan project, not affiliated with or endorsed by Blizzard Entertainment. World of Warcraft, Warcraft III and their art and names belong to Blizzard.
  • It is free to play in the browser. Signing up is optional and asks for an email address and a password; guest play asks for nothing.
  • Use only arenaofchampions.live. arenaofchampions.com is a parked domain for sale, not the game. Get the Windows app only from the official site.

FAQ

What is Arena of Champions?

A free fan-made arena PvP game in the style of World of Warcraft arenas, played in the browser. You pick one of nine classic classes and queue for 1v1, 2v2 or 3v3 matches against other players. The characters and scenery use Warcraft III models. It is not made or endorsed by Blizzard.

Where do I play Arena of Champions?

Only at arenaofchampions.live. The similar-looking arenaofchampions.com is a parked domain for sale and has nothing to do with the game.

Do I need an account or a download?

No. Play as Guest starts without an account, and the game saves your guest progress. You can also create an account with an email address. The site offers an optional Windows app; the browser version installs nothing.

It is stuck on "Loading…". What do I do?

Give it time first. The page shows only "Loading…" while the game client downloads, which took 10 to 30 seconds in our tests before the sign-in screen appeared. If it never loads, use current desktop Chrome or Edge with hardware acceleration on, and reload. Reports of a "CompileError" usually mean an older or limited browser that cannot compile the game's WebAssembly.

Why is my ping so high?

The game is online-only and your ping depends on how far you are from its server. In our test it read 4 to 5 seconds, and the game itself suggested its Windows app, which it says usually plays better than the browser.

Does it need WebGPU?

No. In our tests the game ran through WebGL 2, which all current desktop browsers support. WebGPU is not required.
