Surfd is a free browser game that recreates surf, the community game mode of Counter-Strike: Source where you slide along angled ramps to build speed. It is not a port of Valve’s code: the site’s reference document says the movement is an independent implementation tuned to match 66-tick Source surf servers (the KSF style). What it does use is real community surf maps such as surf_boreas, imported with their geometry and textures. It needs no game files, so this page links straight to it.
Status on 2026-10-17: the site loads and lists 20 classic courses, plus online servers.
What it can do
- Source-style surf movement: 66 tick, air acceleration 150, auto bunnyhop by holding jump. A normal and an unranked “unrestricted start” rule set.
- Real surf maps: the default is surf_boreas by Syncronyze; the credits list many more community map authors.
- Leaderboards and replays: the server verifies recorded movement before a run counts. You can watch the route and download a command replay.
- Online servers: join a server with a few other surfers, chat, and vote on the next map. Players do not collide.
- Practice mode: save and load positions. Practice runs do not go on the leaderboard.
- CSS-like settings: mouse sensitivity on the CS:S scale, field of view, raw input, turn binds with yaw speeds (like
cl_yawspeed), a speed and strafe-sync HUD.

Is it safe and legal?
- Surfd is an independent project. Its terms say it is not affiliated with Valve, Counter-Strike or KSF.
- It is free, runs in the browser and installs nothing.
- The maps keep their authors’ rights; the site says having them in the game does not give anyone a licence to reuse them.
- Public servers have shared chat with moderation and player reports.
Not working?
- The mouse doesn’t turn the view: click Play to capture the mouse.
- Choppy motion: in Settings, set rendering quality to Performance or cap the frame rate.
- Your record disappeared: the terms say records can be reset when physics or maps change during the beta.
- Help: the site links a Discord and its maintainer’s GitHub for bug reports.
